Meet Kyle Huff, Software Developer. Kyle started at RocketBuild as his first foray into a second career as a programmer — having previously held roles in business development. As RocketBuild’s resident jokester, Kyle brings the fun to every company meeting and client engagement. Kyle is an unabashed fan of the Bengals, and loves to follow soccer.

Q: What is your role at RocketBuild, and what does it entail?
A: I’m a Software Developer. While I spend most of my time writing code, I also help estimate incoming projects and meet with clients to better understand their application’s criteria.
Q: What three words might people use to describe you?
A: Funny, competitive, selfless
Q: What got you into your career?
A: I love creative problem solving. I feel like that’s what I do every day now.
Q: Describe your educational experience?
A: I’m a graduate of The Ohio State University and have taken post graduate programming courses, including The Iron Yard in Indianapolis.
Q: Describe your professional experience?
A: I’ve worked for enterprise companies in various business development roles since graduating from college, but have always had a passion for web/application development. Before joining RocketBuild I developed a few websites for local businesses on contract or pro-bono projects.
Q: What is your current favorite coding language or framework?
A: React
Q: What’s your favorite type of project or client to work with?
A: I enjoy building web applications with plenty of business logic. Attention to detail and requirement gathering are important, so having an open line of communication with the client is ideal.
Q: What are you super passionate about?
A: I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and I love my hometown. I visit as often as I can.
Q: What do you do for fun?
A: I’m a golfer, gamer, and movie buff.
Q: If you had to stay up all night for a hackathon, what drinks and snacks would you need to keep you going?
A: Ginger ale, seltzer waters, and chocolate covered almonds.
Q: Favorite local lunch spot?
A: Siam Square. Best Thai food in Indy!
Q: Favorite band or artist?
A: Hard to pick one – I like classic rock, metal, hip hop and alternative/indie in no particular order.
Q: Favorite place you’ve ever visited?
A: Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence, Italy. Amazing view of the city. Good wine too!

A: I’m a grateful heart valve transplant recipient.
