Q & A with Connor Hess
Q: What is your role at RocketBuild, and what does it entail?
A: Technical Project Manager. I am involved in day-to-day interactions with clients and the dev team translating business needs into product features.
Q: What three words might people use to describe you?
A: Humorous, earnest, curious
Q: What got you into your career?
A: I don’t know if there’s really an easy answer to this… I just try to always learn new things and help those along the way. I try to make sure I believe in the work I’m doing, as well as myself, and the rest tends to follow.
Q: Describe your educational experience?
A: I graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Sales Management
Q: Describe your professional experience?
A: I have spent my tech career working in small tight teams. I have always found my skills best served acting as a bridge between the technical and business sides of projects.
Q: What is your current favorite coding language or framework?
A: I dabble only when necessary in the front-end languages: HTML, CSS, and JS.
Q: What’s your favorite type of project or client to work with?
A: I feed off the energy of my team, more so than content of the work itself. As long as I can get that feeling of bumping shoulders working with a great team, I’m happy.
Q: What are you super passionate about?
A: I’m a big Brandon Sanderson fan. I love the Stormlight Archives and Warbreaker.
Q: What do you do for fun?
A: I love to cook and tend the garden in the summer. Normally you can find me on a couch with my wife and dog, watching tv or reading.
Q: If you had to stay up all night for a hackathon, what drinks and snacks would you need to keep you going?
A: I’ve been known to finish an entire gallon of goldfish if the mood is right.
Q: Favorite local lunch spot?
A: At risk of giving my favorite spots away, I’ll just drop a plug for Burritos and Beer. Think of it as like a family owned chipotle—line style burritos and bowls to go.
Q: Favorite band or artist?
A: Big jazz fan, Chet Baker, Thelonious Monk, Chuck Mangione, but I’ll say my favorite is a Canadian synth-pop artist named LIGHTS
Q: Favorite place you’ve ever visited?
An isolated cabin in Moss, Tennessee
Q: A fun fact about yourself:
