Indianapolis Power and Light wanted a way to engage with their partners and clients for the holidays. They were looking for something that would keep their brand at the forefront of the message while also providing entertainment and spreading holiday joy.
Our partner xiik designed a holiday e-card which included a multi-platform game that allowed players to help IPL “power the holidays” by keeping the lights on at the IPL building.
We developed a holiday game on the Phaser framework and provided technical creative consultation, interactive multi-platform web development, testing, and deployment.
Song on Repeat
Lines of Code
Xiik envisioned a game that would integrate the brand, delight the recipients, and celebrate the holidays. They worked with RocketBuild’s team to talk through the various aspects of their plan. The collaborative environment allowed the development team to engage with the designers in a brainstorming session that allowed for organic amplification of the original idea.
Three days before delivery it was discovered that the game would also require IE8 support in addition to the IE9+ that had previously been specked. RocketBuild’s development team accepted the challenge, built a flash version in parallel with the HTML5/JS version already in development. Both versions were delivered on time.
This project was interesting because of the number of platforms it had to support. In the end we created something fun, with clean code and a nice user experience. Sure, the song was stuck in my head for weeks, but that's a small price to pay.
Wicked fast and accurate execution. Special shout...for quickly rallying to emulate the game in a Flash version for older browsers.
